Learning from history
Toyota is recognized to be the leader in systematically developing their experiences and knowledge into a philosophy in which continuous learning and improvement is central.
Already in the early 1930's Toyota was inspired by Henry Ford's concept of mass production. From the outset, their financial situation forced them to learn from every situation and to minimize the use of resources.
That the Toyota philosophy is applicable and works outside of Japan has been proven by the results achieved in their European and American operations, and excelled versus local competition.
The tools used within the Lean philosophy have created great interest for a considerable amount of time, without full appreciation and understanding of the basic principles behind it. This is why the objective by others to achieve at least the same economic results as Toyota and other companies applying the entire concept, has e failed.
